Gerra L. Bosco, Ph.D., studied molecular/cell biology and poetry as an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh, then earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Chicago in 2006. She began working for Academic Approach in September of 2006 as a tutor and Content Developer for ACT Science, and recently moved to Pittsburgh, PA. Since then she has focused her energies on teaching at the college level and continuing to develop science education materials for students at all levels. She currently works as a Science Content Developer for both Academic Approach and the Regenerative Medicine Partnership in Education, and she teaches as an adjunct professor of Biochemistry, Immunology and Writing in the Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. In her free time, she enjoys playing the electric bass guitar and practicing the ancient art/science of zymurgy.
Courtney Federle received his Ph.D. in German Literature from Berkeley. He has over 20 years of teaching experience at some of the most prestigious schools in Chicago, including the University of Chicago and the Upper School at the Latin School of Chicago. Courtney began working for Academic Approach as a writing instructor and content developer in the fall of 2007.
Andrew has an M.S. in Chemistry from Wichita State University. Andrew is a member of the American Chemical Society and holds Master's Certification in the following areas: Physical, Analytical, Organic, Inorganic, Electrical, and Biochemical chemistry. He has 7 years of experience teaching high school mathematics and science. Andrew began working for Academic Approach at the beginning of 2006, as a math and science instructor and content developer.
Leah Guenther received her Ph.D. in English Literature from Northwestern University. She has 10 years of experience teaching composition and literature courses at the college level and most recently served as the Executive Director of 826CHI, a non-profit tutoring center and writing lab for students ages 6-18. Leah began working as a content developer for Academic Approach in July 2007.
James Kriegsmann holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Northwestern University and a B.S. in theoretical and applied mechanics from the University of Illinois. He has studied a variety of subjects in physics and mathematics; his doctoral work was centered on problems involving the fluid dynamics of thin films. Before joining Academic Approach, James worked in production at McDougal Littell, creating middle-school textbooks. James began working for Academic Approach in 2007 as a tutor and math content developer.
Cary O’Brien holds an M.A. in English from Columbia University in New York. Cary has 10 years of teaching experience, working with students of all levels. He began working for Academic Approach in 2005 as an instructor and content developer.
