Frequently Asked Questions

What is Academic Approach online? ^ back to top

Academic Approach online is a pioneering test preparation and academic tutoring program created by Academic Approach that is now available online 24/7 using our Teaching Beyond The Test™ approach.

Why is Academic Approach different? ^ back to top

What sets us apart is our approach: Academic Approach uses standardized tests—what many educators view as necessary evils—to achieve valuable academic ends. We are not merely tutors; we are inspired educators.

How much time is required to complete each course? ^ back to top

There is no predetermined time frame for course completion. Our courses are designed to let students work at their own pace.

What is one-on-one test preparation? ^ back to top

One-on-one test preparation refers to the customized programs that instructors through each of our 3 offices provide. For more information on our one-on-one test prep, contact our offices in Boston, Chicago, or New York.

What is Teaching Beyond the Test™? ^ back to top

Teaching Beyond The Test™ means imparting knowledge and then showing students how to apply that knowledge everywhere. We don't teach games or gimmicks but rather the logical underpinnings of a test, its core academic content and its relationship to broader curricula.

What is your refund policy? ^ back to top

Cancellation of Online Programs will be accepted for five (5) days after online access is granted. Cancellations will be subject to a $20 administrative fee. After the expirations of this five (5) day period, no refunds will be granted. Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice. Please review periodically.

Why can't I register more than one child using the same email address? ^ back to top

Our system uses email to send various notifications, so each student and parent must use a unique address. If you're looking for an additional email address, we've really enjoyed Google's GMail, but there are others, including Yahoo! and Hotmail for web-based email. Contact your internet provider for more information about setting up additional email accounts.

I am able to login to my account and access the courses; however, I am unable to access the tests. Am I doing something wrong? ^ back to top

Parent accounts are used to track student progress and are not set up to allow test and exercise taking. First, log out. Then, students should log in under their account; once they are logged in, they should be able to access the test portion of the course.

Can my children share the same course? ^ back to top

Our courses are set up to track one student at a time so there is no way to properly measure the progress of more than one student without purchasing the course for each.

How can I purchase additional courses? ^ back to top

After logging in to your account, you can purchase additional courses from the Welcome Back page by clicking on the "purchase additional courses" link. You are not able to purchase additional courses unless you are logged in to your account.
